Prompt Secure stores prompts, projects, and context blocks in a local database on your Android device; the app does not encrypt that database, and API keys are kept separately in secure device storage. Without an account, nothing syncs automatically to our cloud, and the vault works fully offline — though AI requests, manual sharing, and exports can still move data off your device. After you sign in, prompts and context blocks sync automatically with Supabase, including on Free accounts.

Your API keys never reach us

Connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. On Android it's encrypted in secure device storage using keys managed by the Android Keystore, where no other app can read it; hardware-backed protection can vary by device, so we don't promise it. It goes only to the AI provider you chose — never to us. In the Chrome extension, keys live in the browser's extension storage; we don't recommend it on shared computers.

Questions

Is my data really private?
By default, everything stays on your device in a local database — the vault, search, and templates work with no internet at all, and no account is required. The database itself is not encrypted by the app; your API keys are kept separately in secure device storage and never reach our servers under any circumstances. If you sign in, prompts and context blocks sync automatically to our Supabase database, including on Free accounts, so you can reach them from another device — signing in is the switch, there's no separate sync toggle. Team Vaults share what you add with your team once you use that feature. AI requests using your API key, and any manual sharing or export, can move data off your device even without an account.
What happens if I uninstall the app?
Local data is removed with the app. If you were signed in, any prompts that synced successfully can be restored once you sign in again after reinstalling — we recommend checking that sync is up to date before you uninstall. For extra safety, you can also export a JSON backup first; note that the exported file is not encrypted, so store and share it carefully.
Does the Chrome Extension cost extra?
No. The Chrome Extension is completely free and syncs automatically with your mobile vault when you log in with the same account. Premium features (unlimited prompts, team vaults) unlock in the Extension once you've purchased in the app.
Do I need my own API key?
Yes. Prompt Secure uses a BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) model. You connect your own OpenAI or Anthropic API key. This means you pay AI providers directly at their rates — we never handle your API calls or add markup to usage costs.
Can I use it without an internet connection?
Yes. The vault, search, and templates work fully offline, even without an account. AI features need an internet connection to reach OpenAI or Anthropic APIs, and so do cloud sync, Team Vaults, and community features. If you're signed in, cloud sync also happens automatically once you're back online.
